Dear Grandmaster Moon,

There I was, at 74, coasting along in retirement, two metal hips, a pot belly and having fun in life.  I owned a business and had enough to do  to keep me busy, but it was easy, sitting-at-the-computer work I could do even from a wheelchair, if I had to.

I had a lot life accomplishments to be proud of -- living and traveling in 35 countries, an MBA from Harvard, working in the Kennedy White House, researcher and author on health subjects, publisher of more than 100,000 web pages and not feeling bad about myself.

But, I didn't even try to stand on one foot, or even two feet close together.  When I first met Grandmaster Moon I found someone who taught what I should have learned decades ago -- the necessity for a regular discipline of movement.  As you get old the single key marker is "less movement."  Eventually that carries over to organs and blood -- moving less -- and there is death -- no motion.

Oh sure, I walked some and thought I was strong, but if the body has 5,000 possible positions and movements (I am sure it has more) my "exercise" was the same old 46 of them -- I learned not only the necessity of regular disciplined movement, but the concept of moving "just a little more" or "moving something a little different."

I started with my white belt about a year ago.  I tried to kick -- I couldn't possibly stand on one foot and do anything with the other -- than put it down quickly before I fell.  I know I will move more and better -- it takes only practice and love of your own further survival with a quality life.  But, already I can do things with my body that I couldn't do 40 years ago!

There is not only much to learn with Grandmaster Moon, but there is delight in the learning process.
You know the phrase, "I look into your soul!"  Well, Grandmaster Moon looks into my body, my muscles, my ligaments, and comes up, today, with just the right set of movements, exercises, that are not only fun but carry me into new and very satisfying areas of physical condition.

I am getting younger.  The measure is movement. I move now in ways I had not dreamed of.  Perhaps when I was 15 I could do these things, but life had been a steady, even if pleasant, downhill ever since those days.

These days there is a reverse trend and I am so delighted I tell anyone and everyone about the vital necessity of disciplined movement and the joys of the Moo Sool Won School under Great Grandmaster Moon and Grandmaster Moon.

Ask me, I'll fill your ears and heart with the good news.

The picture shows me with the potbelly, taken about three weeks after I started Kung Fu -- my belt is yellow and my waist is smaller today, about one year.
