On May 28, 2006, a week after the ATV adventure, my wife and I went to a restaurant for breakfast.
We sat in a regular booth, had a regular meal and regular service.
The breakfast was finished -- there were several used dishes and stuff on the table.
I moved my hand in some way that it hit a full glass of water -- the glass tumbled over, with all the water rushing like a waterfall over the table, exactly toward ME.
I had no way of avoiding the oncoming water and getting thoroughly soaked.
Three things happened -- in sequence.
First my muscles reacted and I "shifted" my whole body slightly to the right -- I couldn't shift it much -- the booth was cramped and the water was coming.
The water came over the edge and down onto me -- but it missed most of me and only got the left side of my body drenched. Not much really.
The third thing was that I recalled the "flying Kung Fu shift" and decided that this was, more basically, the "Kung Fu Shift" whether it applied to a flying body or a body in a cramped space.
Sure, I got wet. But I know that I "shifted" before the water hit me square in the middle and got me completely drenched.
I laughed and shared my new awarenss and ability to shift with my wife, and decided to add this small adventure to the larger adventure in Palm Springs.
This Kung Fu memory stuff really works!
